BOOK

The Heir Affair by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan

It’s finally here! Since the publication of the first book in the series, The Royal We, I have been desperate to find out what happens after the most scandalous royal wedding ever. Miraculously, Bex and Prince Nicholas made it down the aisle, but after going off the grid for their honeymoon, they’ve now got to pick up the pieces and make amends with their friends and family they’ve hurt. The ultimate what happens after a supposed happily ever after, I wasn’t able to put the book down. Now please tell me we don’t have to wait another five years for the third installment!

   FILMS

Fast Times at Ridgemont High (Amazon – Trailer)

Haven’t seen or even thought about this movie in years but was reminded of this gem when someone quoted, “All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I’m fine.” Growing up in California, I feel like I know most of the characters in this movie in real life. Not only is it immensely quote-able and insanely funny, the film has a killer soundtrack and a young Sean Penn.

Nightingale (HBO Max – Trailer)

This is definitely not a recommendation for everyone – certainly not for the faint-hearted and even gruesome for the tough-hearted. Aisling Franciosi, a young Irish convict, chases a British officer, Sam Claflin, through the rugged Tasmanian wilderness with revenge for a terrible act of violence. It is indisputably well-made but often hard to watch. Although I could not possibly watch this movie again, I hope that other brave souls check out this historical revenge tale this weekend so I have someone to discuss with.

Girls Trip (Amazon – Trailer)

I miss road tripping. I miss hanging with my best friends. So, why not take a road trip with the Flossy Posse – Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish and Jada Pinkett Smith. Four best friends take a trip to New Orleans where they rekindle their wild side by dancing, drinking, brawling, and romancing to excess. I guarantee you will be laughing out loud and incredibly jealous of their fabulous jackets.

  TV SERIES

Broadchurch

As a huge David Tennant fan, it’s embarrassing I didn’t watch Broadchurch until this past weekend. After the death of a young boy, a small town is ripped at the seams as accusations fly and an outsider, whose last murder case fell apart, helms the investigation. The cast is full of incredible British actors: basically if you were in Harry Potter, Doctor Who, or the Crown, you’re in this. Incredibly well-written and beautifully shot, you won’t be able to stop watching.

The Baby-Sitters Club

You do not have to be the “target audience” for this in order to enjoy it. In fact, I encourage you to watch it BECAUSE you are not the target demo. Why? Because girls rule and everyone should know it. There’s also something in it for everyone – maybe not murder doc fans, but for all ages nonetheless. Each of these girls is brave, smart, tear-jerkingly vulnerable, and a GD entrepreneur! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m reworking my wardrobe to be more like Claudia Kishi’s.
